About Geo-Help - Concept

Geo-Help is a net-work of Geological expertise and information services available to both Companies and Individuals active in the Canadian Oil and Gas Industry.

Consulting services are provided through Dave Russum and various Associates who can be called upon to provide specific expertise.

Information services are provided through Geo-Help's website where a number of unique products designed to make information more accessible to Geologists are available. Some of these products can be accessed free while others are available by subscription or on a "pay for use" basis.

Geo-Help will continue to develop new services or forge links with current services to ensure that the needs of Geologists are met in the most efficient and economic way.

Dave Russum is the Founder and President of Geo-Help. He has 25+ years of experience as an oil and gas Explorer, Developer, Manager and Consultant in the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin. Recent focus has been on the regional assessment of natural gas opportunities, the Canadian supply and demand picture and improving exploration results in mature basins.

Background experience comes from Amoco Canada and Crestar Energy where he has seen most aspects of the upstream Oil and Gas Industry:

        • Exploration and Development,

        • Shallow gas and Deep Sour Gas

        • Conventional and Heavy Oil,

        • Carbonates and Clastics,

        • Acquisitions and Divestitures,

        • Economics and Strategic Planning,

        • Managing, Supervising and Coaching

        • Hiring, Recruiting and Interviewing

        • Mergers, Growth and Downsizing,

Dave spent a year in Tulsa attending Amoco's Petrophysical Training Course and was involved in one of the first multidisciplinary Teams that evaluated the Pembina Cardium Field. In addition he discovered the Brown Creek Swan Hills gas field (now Blackstone) which is one of the largest discoveries in the past two decades.

He has a strong business sense and a very realistic view of what it will take to succeed in this Basin. Adding Value while minimizing costs will remain a major challenge for every size of Company. Work on Canada's resources and some new, innovative ways to understand the bigger picture provide some unique approaches to converting new ideas into economically viable business opportunities.

"Recent Publications, Studies and Courses" provides more information. He is a volunteer with the Canadian Gas Potential Committee and has provided input to the National Petroleum Council and the National Energy Board.

He is a member of APEGGA, CSPG and AAPG.
