Co-Mentoring
Mentoring recognises the benefits that can be achieved from an experienced individual providing guidance and advice to a less experienced individual. Co-Mentoring recognises that this process can be much broader and beneficial to both individuals.
An experienced Geologist can bring the benefits of exposure to many different areas, formations, problems and solutions. A new Geologist can bring knowledge of recent advances in the science such as sequence stratigraphy, ichnology and new technology. In particular the junior geologist brings computer skills that may still be very foreign to an older Geologist.
In the competitive environment of the new millenium, there are some major benefits to encouraging these kinds of relationships particularly outside formal Company boundaries.
Geo-Help can help foster these types of arrangements either on a formal basis by providing a mentor to work with a Company or by pairing individuals on an informal basis. Contact Geo-Help if you are interested in pursuing this concept further.
